DVF: Look For Less (Part I)

Have you ever seen that show on The Style Network titled Look For Less? It is currently hosted by America's Next Top Model winner Yoanna House from cycle 2. For those who are not familiar with it, what they do is they get a person who must shop with a fashion stylist to recreate a runway outfit that they like with a budget limit of usually around $100-$150. They must get everything, like the shoes, accessories, top & bottom, or dress, all in under an hour.

The other day, I happened to be by this shopping village in LA and saw this dress that really reminded me of the DVF outfit that I featured here a few days ago.

And then I had a Look For Less moment of my own. And yes, up until now, I'm still obessesing over the god, Diane Von Furstenberg. I just thought of recreating it without completely going broke. Nothing wrong with that, right?

But since I cannot wear it yet coz all my other accessories are all back home, I settled with making a similar look on Polyvore.com. So excited to actually wear it! I'm planning to wear it for work. And yes, I promise to post it here to show you how it turns out. So look out for my DVF: Look For Less (Part II)

In the meanttime, I'm gonna go back to drooling over DVF's latest Spring 2009 Collection.

Diane von Furstenberg Is The God!

I was by Saks Fifth Avenue the other day and I browsed through Diane von Furstenberg's collections. Then I fell in love with her Spring 2008 collection.

I wanted to buy some but each item was like $200, on sale already, and I just could not afford it. So I settled to drooling over them for hours and hours in the store. And it also didn't help that on my flight back to LA, the plane's TV entertainment featured the making of her Resort 2009 collection.

And because I still can't get over her when I got home, I went ahead and drooled some more on her other collections online. I went through all her collections, even as far back as her Fall 2001 collection, and I just cannot find any fault in her clothes.

I'm obessessed with her clothes and with the woman herself. She is the very person who understands a woman's body and creates art which showcases the flow and feminity of a woman's body in a very classic and chic way. After all, she is best known for introducing the lover to the woman's body, the "wrap dress".

They Say Age Doesn't Matter

Went on another shopping spree today. I'm really in love with their outlet stores here. I swear, if only I do not have any weather (cold) issues, I'd decide to live here just so I can shop all the time.

I guess this will be my last here though.... I hope so 'coz right now, I'm already down to my last $5. No kidding.

For some reason, people at the shopping center were staring at me all day. I thought people here don't give a da*mn what other people are wearing.

My aunt has a different theory though. She believes that because I'm short and small compared to the average American, people here probably thought I'm too young to afford all that I'm shopping. Ha!

The Amazing Race

Believe it or not, I was able to shop in 30 minutes flat. I needed to get some more pasalubongs for a few more people but my aunt had work and so didn't have the time to shop. I was amazed at how fast I was, I just might make it into the Guinness world record. Ha!

I also got to do my week's laundry, cleaned the house, call some people and reply to some work emails. All in all, it was a productive day for me. I was dead beat tired that I slept through watching the movie Waitress on cable.

Good Morning Sunshine!

I got the day off from fashion and wore good 'ol jeans and shirt at Universal Studios. I also got to wear my brand new rockin' hoodie from Hard Rock Cafe. That, with my short short height and presto, I blended in with the crowd as a high school teenager.

The very next day, we raided the the fabulous Premium Outlet Store and then I was in love! Every designer item there was dirt cheap, I swear!

I was at Le Chef Gourmet and bought my mom some cooking stuff. I'll be her fave kid now. Lol.

Then on I went buying more pasalubong for the rest of the fam and of course, for myself. I actually just realized that I spent more for my family than myself. Am I not the best kid in the world?!!!

I think I created a bigger mess while trying to organize my things.

And The Best Actress Is....

What better thing to post than the Oscars Fashion Report. Honestly, I don't give sh*t who won and who was snobbed. All I care about is the million dollar question: "Who are you wearing?" Ha, think I could now get a job as a red carpet correspondence? Hello there E! news.

I was actually checking the Best & Worst report from Yahoo! and was surprised that I disagreed with some of them (which by the way, rarely happens.) And so, announcing the presence of...

Looks like the color black failed face flat this year.

I loved Tilda Swinton in the Constantine, but it seems that she can't get over her role up 'till now.

I can't imagine why anybody would want to age so soon, like our dear Ellen Page here.

And I am deeply dissapointed with Nicole Kidman. She used to rock the red carpet all the time. I'm just too depressed with this right now, I just might start taking anti-depressants. Or maybe she should.

I have no idea who this is, but she definitely got my attention with her Minnie Mouse inspired outfit. Last offender of that polka dot was Heidi Klum.

And speaking of Heidi Klum, she once again did not fail us in making it to our list. What with her overdose of color that's eating her up. I really don't understand how a model can go wrong with clothes.

The Oscars organizer were also really nice enough to bring a mascot for the night. Presenting the Fish Lady. Er, my bad. It's actually Marion Cotillard. I'm really not sure why Yahoo! named her as one of the best dressed. Anything with fish/reptile scales just does not work for me.

I also disagree with Yahoo! when they named Renee Zellweger as worst dressed. I don't see anything wrong with her outfit, it's just so-so.

And I also disagree with them for naming Katherine Heigl as worst dressed. I think she rocked the old Hollywood glamour and showcased her svelte figure beautifully with the dress.

Here is Hilary Swank to prove that black is still the all-time color. She is just rokin' this with her toned arms. I love it!

And a shot of color also never hurts. Unlike Heidi, Kelly Preston knows moderation and still looks modern and chic. She's bringing the mustard color back to my fave list.

Hit The Road, Jack

So we drove all the way from Fort Myers to Orlando. I am simply amazed with the GPS system here. An O.C. like me would really appreciate it. But this still did not stop us from getting lost. We had to circle the roads a couple of times to finally find it. And imagine this frustration after a long drive when all you want is to lie down on a warm, soft bed.

This is me when we finally got to check in to the hotel. Such a relief!

We went in to Universal's Hard Rock Cafe, the largest in the world, and had my birthday dinner there. Seen is their flying pink car. And I also got a rockin' cool hoodie from their shop.

Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone

You simply cannot begin to imagine what I had to go through to get to Florida. It was sheer panic for me for a time there. I'm not going to go into details 'coz it'll probably take the the whole day.

Apparently, Florida is also currently experiencing a very unusual low temperature. Must be a cold front. And add to that the wind that carries the chill all day long. It was just not what I expected.

However, I also refused to be stucked in Florida for the next few days. I simply cannot let any cold weather stop me and ruin my vacation which I had to fight my boss for. So we decided to drive up to Orlando and enjoy their theme parks. More photos to come.

Peaches and Cream Delight

I drafted this entry while waiting for my connecting flight in Charlotte. They have free WiFi there... yehey!

So I was getting a dose of my daily fashion read when I came across this photo of a certain Peaches Geldof. Honestly, I would not pretend I know her, so I googled her. Turns out she's some British socialite who also had a stint on reality TV. The theme of the show may sound familiar to us... party lifestyle, perceived as wild and self-destructive, with critics noting her lack of years, access to wealth and hunger for fame. Paris Hilton anyone?

'Nuff said, this photo really caught my attention. So I was not surprised when google also returned an article naming her as a top fashion icon. Just check her out on other occasions. I might start a new girl crush now....

You Were Cold As Ice

This is what I wore the other day while out shopping for pasalubongs (gifts from travel). I mostly bought gifts for my mom since she made me a wishlist, complete with photos and all. Isn't she just cute?!!!

I went gaga over Ross. My heart was palpitating. I could stay there the whole day and I still could not have gone through all their racks. I spent most of my time at the bags and shoes department. No shocker there. Their discounted designer bags were to die for! I got some wallets from Nine West, a bag from Liz Claiborne and an office bag from Totes.

Can't wait to check out the outlet stores in Orlando. I'm now off to the airport to catch my flight. My hands are freezing while typing this. I need some Florida sun!

Needing Some Sun in Florida

OK, so I know I've been a very lousy blogger lately. It's just that these past few days, I've been wearing nothing else but baggy sweat pants and have been bundled inside the warm & cozy house, stuffing myself with food. Well, except for that one time when I went out shopping. But still, what I wore that day was not worth blogging about.

For now, we have to make do with these photos I found while browsing around online. And I swear I'll be posting all my outfits when I get to Florida tomorrow. It's where I planned for all the fun to happen.

I found this photo of Kim Kardashian at the Y-3 Fall 2009 fashion show where she wore this futuristic Maison Martin Margiela jacket. I never will have the guts to wear that in public but kudos to her for making this jacket work! It's very refreshing to see her in an altogether different look, aside from her normal curve-hugging clothes.

While on a more sour note... here's GG's Jenny Humphrey, Taylor Momsen. I stared to love her on GG when she donned on her new look as a rebellious kid. But this photo is giving me goosebumps. She looks like she's auditioning as the Corpse Bride. I don't know if it's the messy hair or the flowy dress, but there's just something off in this look.

And oh, by the way, I just remembered this very nice and very cute immigration guy I flirted with at the airport. Wish I asked for his number. Lol.

I Flew From Hell And Back

Hey y'all! Just got in L.A. and it's raining like mad which is why it's so cold here.
I was planning to take a photo of my outfit while on standby at the airport for my connecting flight, but I suddenly had shyness-attack. Lol.

I love my wide-legged trousers! I don't care if I'm too short to wear one, but they were just sooooo comfortable. Especially with that 12-hour flight that I had to endure. I had to wear bussiness outfit since I was hoping to get a business class ticket and they kinda have a strict dress code.

***EDIT***

My conscience couldn't take it so I'm posting better photos of my outfit than the one I previously posted.

We've Got Issues

I knew this would happen. So far, all my travel preps have been going smoothly. This should have warned me that something was gonna go wrong sooner or later. And it did.

My flight got cancelled since there were so few people who booked for it. And so they're bumping us to other earlier flights that are also fully booked. This totally ruined the already-tight schedule that I'm running between work and home.

And add to that some major drama going on that I simply don't have the time AND patience to deal with right now.

I know, I complain too much. Anyway, this is what I wore while juggling all these issues.

Now back to my frantic mode. Later y'all!

Quirky on Valentine's Day

We had this color coding at work for Valentine's Day. We were to wear:

PURPLE if single,
BLUE if in a relationship,
RED - has a crush w/ somebody in the office,
GREEN - in a same sex relationship (and proud!),
PINK - happily married,
STRIPES - dating around and not committed

And this is what I wore:

People were asking, "What the heck does polka dots mean?!" Lol.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY y'all! Here's to more lovin' comin' your way...

Because I Said So

I know I've been slacking on my outfit posts for the past few days, so allow me to do my catching up today. I have been running a lot of errands for my upcoming trip, plus a few shopping on the side. hehehe.

Today alone, I got to go to the bank, visit my dentist, shop for some outfits, pick up some orders, had my hair done and pay my bills. All done in between work and home. I'm telling you, I'm Wonder Woman in the flesh. Lol.

Anyway, this is what I wore today at work. People commented that I'm recently inspired by the movie Because I Said So, in reference to my last outfit and the polka dotted dress worn by Diane Keaton & Mandy Moore in the movie.

I'm really looking forward to my outfits during the trip. I just hope I can find time to post them here daily as well.

Wanted: Valentine's Day Date

I wouldn't mind at all if one of you out there can get me Chace Crawford as my date on V-Day. LOL.

I was never a big fan of him on Gossip Girl. (I'm more of a Chuck-kinda-girl) But when I saw this photo of Chace on People.com, I just went ahead and swooned, and melted all the way to the floor. Look at how slick he is. He's a dream! That's a guy who looks good and knows it.

Now if only all guys dress like him... I know, wishful thinking.

Lady of Grandeur

I'm just loving what I wore today. I actually caused quite a stir at the office, but I still can't get what the big fuss was all about. These people should already be used by now to me being overdressed.

This dress reminded me so much of Diane Keaton's costumes in the movie Because I Said So (with Mandy Moore). She was so chic, classic and elegant. I want to be like her when I get older.

This dress is another treasure I found at one of my fave thrift shops. Gotta love my cheap thrills!

Send In My Muses

There is something seriously wrong with me these past few days. Nothing I wear is interesting or good enough. Maybe I'm having what artists call creative bock. (So now I'm an artist? Or creative?) Or maybe I just need another inspiration.
I pray to the Greek gods for them to send in my muses. Pretty please?! I just need my mojo back.

My mom bought me this load of scarves. I think I got eight of them. Will feature all of them here maybe soon.

Too Bland and Uninspired

I treated my folks and my grandma to lunch the other day. They also wanted me to take them to the thrift shops that I go to. I knew we would be doing a lot of walking, hopping from one shop to another. So I made sure I wear a simple outfit, which included flats. I know... eeek!... my height.

The outfit ended up being too bland for me. I felt that there was something missing with it the entire time. Maybe a scarf, or a necklace, anything with a touch of color. It was just not outrageous and not overdressed enough for me. So not me!

On me: thrited polka dot dress, American Eagle khaki pleated skirt, gladiator sandals, Charles & Keith convertible bag
